Physical Science Only: (Integrated science, see below)
IMPORTANT: Only those students currently enrolled in Algebra I are eligible for Physical Science.

Physical Science is an introduction to chemistry and physics designed to lay a solid foundation for students as they prepare for higher-level science courses. Students will be able to integrate science concepts from first-hand observations and experiences to relate basic physical science to the world around them. This course will encompass concepts and topics similar to those covered in chemistry and physics. The students are expected to observe, examine, analyze, experiment, utilize critical thinking and draw conclusions to solve problems about various physical science themes through experimentation, laboratory activities, discussion, cooperative group work, and hands-on demonstrations.

Physical Science students will be required to purchase a composition notebook. The students will use the notebook to document inquiry processes performed during the class.

This course is a high school course, and it includes term exams in October and March, and semester exams at the end of the semester in December (during the week of December 15th) and in May (during the last week of school). All of these exams are part of your grade. Term exams ARE included in your term test average, while semester exams are instead counted as 20% of your semester average.

Students will still participate in TCAP testing in April, and we will review expected TCAP material that will not be covered in this course.

Integrated Science Only:
Our integra
ted science curriculum includes life and physical science concepts, integrated into a comprehensive course. Students will be expected to observe, examine, analyze, experiment, utilize critical thinking, and draw conclusions to solve problems about various scince themes through experiments, lab activities, demonstrations, discussion, and cooperative group work. Students will be REQUIRED to purchase a composition notebook. Students will use the notebook to document inquiry processes performed during class. There are no term exams or semester exams in integrated science.
